MSTR Has Six Weeks To Prove It

For about a year we’ve been saying that MicroStrategy doesn’t follow Bitcoin. That it runs its own clock — it turns down first, and it turns up first — and that when it stops lining up with Bitcoin, that isn’t a fault in the tool. That’s the point.

It’s a lovely thing to say. It’s also very easy to keep saying forever, because there’s always a reason. So this episode puts a deadline on it.

What “leads” actually means

Not that MSTR goes up more. Everybody knows that — it’s a leveraged Bitcoin proxy, that’s the design.

Something narrower, and far more testable: its cycle runs on a different schedule. Its lows arrive earlier than Bitcoin’s, and so do its highs. Up first, down first. If that’s true, MicroStrategy tells you something about Bitcoin before Bitcoin does. If it’s false, it’s just Bitcoin with the volume turned up.

Two clocks, two windows

MicroStrategy’s last weekly cycle low was 30 March 2026, at $116.40. Counted forward on its own cycle, the next one is due between 12 October and 9 November.

Bitcoin’s last weekly cycle low was 29 June 2026, at $57,800. Its next one isn’t due until 11 January – 8 February 2027.

Three months apart. That part is pure arithmetic — no direction, no price, no forecast. Just two cycles counted from two starting points that have already happened. It either happens or it doesn’t.

The pretty answer — and why it’s probably wrong

Now opinion, labelled as such: we think MSTR makes a higher low than $116.40.

There’s an unfilled gap on the MSTR daily chart at $133.88 — credit to Jesse Olson (@JesseOlson on X), whose chart it’s from — and the 200-day moving average is arriving in the same area, around $134. Two completely different things pointing at the same shelf. It’s neat. It fits.

Which is exactly what’s wrong with it.

Across MicroStrategy’s last eleven cycles, the typical fall from a cycle high into its weekly low is −53% — the median, not the disaster. For a higher low at all, this cycle’s fall has to be shallower than about 41%: three of the eleven were, roughly one in four. For that tidy $134 zone, shallower than 32%: one in eleven. And the median fall from this cycle’s $197 high lands at about $92 — below the March low.

So the base rate says lower. Our opinion says higher. We hold it at one in four, not at “obviously” — and we say so.

What would make us wrong

MANTIS flags this cycle as left translated: it peaked on 11 May, about a third of the way through, and in cycle theory a left-translated cycle classically closes below where it started. It started at $116.40. Our own tool is disagreeing with our own opinion — and it’s in the video because we could have left it out.

Three ways this goes wrong, and they’re not the same size:

  1. MSTR bottoms in its window, but below $116.40. The direction call is wrong — but the clock claim stands. It led Bitcoin down.
  2. MSTR doesn’t bottom until January, alongside Bitcoin. Then the whole thesis is wrong. No own clock, just leverage.
  3. The awkward one. If it bottoms between 12 and 17 October, we can’t tell you which it was — Bitcoin’s daily cycle low is due in those same days. The evidence only gets clean after the 17th.

Where things stand a week on: nothing in the video has moved. $197 (11 May) is still the cycle high, so the odds above stand as quoted. The $133.88 gap is still unfilled. And the window opens a week today — Monday 12 October.
